We welcome you to Blue Cedar Press (BCP) and hope you enjoy following us as we grow (little by little) into a quality small press presenting excellent and courageous literature from the depths of human imagination and experience.

We are well aware of the cynicism and bravado coming from many corners of our political, social and academic communities.  Our pledge is to bring you honest spokespersons, from around the world, to present unique and critical voices to counter the mean rhetoric with the music of literary art. Thank you for continuing to read on.

As we look forward to expanding, we look forward to receiving financial support. Over the past twenty – thirty years, federal and state government grants have dwindled and, in many cases, disappeared.  But we continue to scan the horizon for financial help through grants both private and public.

However, we also realize that individuals may want to add their support so on the right hand side of this page is one way to make this individual donation possible through PayPal. Donations can also be made to:  BLUE CEDAR PRESS, Laura Tillem (managing editor), PO Box 48715, Wichita, KS  67201.

Our Mission

Blue Cedar Press, the Midwest’s independent press, publishes new voices from the Prairie and the Planet. We publish limited edition literary books with the understanding that a book is a work of art.

— We will read, reject, accept, edit and publish poetry, fiction and other literature in book form.

— For the immediate future, we will accept a very limited number of book-length manuscripts in order to provide the authors with focused editorial and design attention.  We will not be publishing a literary journal.

— BCP commits to producing beautifully designed and well-manufactured books. At the same time, we will balance the finely produced book against cost considerations in order to make the books affordable to all.

— Art and literature enrich the whole community. We encourage free-of-charge public readings and work with independent book stores and arts communities to support literary events.
